		<description>Scott Joplin rags (as well as other rags) are normally not meant to be played so fast.   Look at some of the earlier sheet music versions.   Sometimes when they were made into rolls for player pianos - and got sped up.

My maternal grandmother played piano in the 1910s and 20s - she played for silent movies.  My father played during 20s, 30s and 40s - in bands and on tent repertoire theatre.   Both cautioned me not to play rags too fast.  

Some rag pieces are written in march tempo as well.
